With all the doom and gloom in the news lately, we thought we'd brighten things up with some other types of headlines—specifically ones about every stoner's favourite treat: pot brownies. Today's blog features our favourite tried and true pot brownie recipes and hilarious news stories from the week.

Pot Brownies in the News
In a small community in Ontario, a batch of pot brownies accidentally ended up at a school event. How exactly does that happen? Well, when Michael Koranda visited cannabis-legal British Columbia earlier that week, he brought home a little souvenir known as THC butter, which he later used to bake a batch of pot brownies. His mom saw these delicious "normal-looking" brownies sitting on her kitchen counter and brought a handful to her peers at school. Around 8 pm that day, the local authorities received multiple calls that members of the school were not feeling well. Their effects were traced back to the THC-infused brownies and poor Michael's mom (an innocent teacher) was arrested for distribution and bringing cannabis onto school property.
The World's Largest Pot Brownie
Well done to cannabis company MariMed for breaking the previous world record for largest pot brownie! They baked a pot brownie that weighs 850 pounds and contains 20,000mg of THC—the equivalent of 66 joints. A single bite of this brownie comes to around 5mg of THC. Per USA Today, "The gargantuan brownie also contains 1,344 eggs, 212 pounds of butter, 250 pounds of sugar, 122 pounds of cocoa powder, 81 pounds of flour, 5 pounds of vanilla extract, two pounds of baking powder, and three pounds of salt."

Are Weed Brownies Good for You?
Don't worry, we'll save you the repetition of marijuana's medical benefits. You already know that weed can reduce anxiety, improve sleep, boost your mood, and alleviate depression. But what is it about edibles specifically that makes them so popular among medical users? Pot brownies deliver so much more than a case of the giggles and mouth-watering flavour.
Because marijuana edibles, such as pot brownies, take longer to absorb into your system, the effects generally last longer. Most users claim the effects last between 6-8 hours, whereas smoking marijuana lasts about 2-4 hours. The benefits of weed brownies include
- they help control seizures
- they manage pain levels
- they're a discreet way to consume marijuana
- they produce a longer-lasting high
- they save you money
- they reduce weed waste
Marijuana and Food: a Lovely Pairing
