Return Policy

Seed genetics are perishable in the eyes of the law the moment they're opened and germinated — which means a return policy for cannabis seeds carries real nuance that most buyers never think about until something goes wrong. Here is everything you need to know about how Pacific Seed Bank handles returns, exchanges, germination replacements, and the legal context that governs it all.

Standard Return Policy: The Seven-Day Window

Seeds are living organisms packaged at a precise moisture content, and their viability begins the clock the moment they leave our facility. That biological reality is why our return window is fixed at seven days from confirmed delivery — not seven days from the date you remember to open the parcel.

Before you ship anything back, there is one non-negotiable step:

  1. You must Contact us to initiate the return. Our customer service team will confirm your eligibility and provide a dedicated return mailing address used exclusively for returned orders. Do not send products to the office address listed on our website — packages returned without prior confirmation will not be eligible for a refund.
  2. Once confirmation is received, ship your unopened, original-packaging order using a tracked service with delivery confirmation. We strongly advise this step; Pacific Seed Bank cannot accept responsibility for packages lost or damaged in transit.
  3. Refunds are issued in the same method as the original payment. Credit card purchase? The refund goes back to that card. No exceptions, no store-credit substitutions for standard returns.
  4. Customers are responsible for the cost of return shipping. Outbound shipping costs from your original order are not refundable under any circumstances.
  5. Pacific Seed Bank is not obligated to re-ship orders that could not be delivered — including cases involving no mail receptacle or unclaimed parcels — unless the failure was caused by a natural disaster or force majeure event.

We reserve the right to refuse a return or withhold a refund if the terms above have not been satisfied.

Exchange Policy: Swapping One Strain for Another

Changed your mind about a cultivar before anything hits the propagation tray? An exchange is straightforward, provided you act quickly and keep the product pristine.

  • Contact us within 7 days of receiving your order to request an exchange.
  • Returned goods must be new, unused, and in their original packaging. Partially opened seed packs are not eligible.
  • Let us know exactly which strain or strains you'd like as a replacement. Browse our full catalogue of available strains before reaching out so the swap can be processed in a single exchange.
  • If you need the replacement seeds shipped before we receive your return, we will charge your card for the cost of sending them. Any price difference above the value of your returned goods will also be charged at that time.
  • If the replacement product costs less than what you returned, you will be refunded the difference — minus applicable shipping costs.

Important update as of March 25, 2022: All seed replacements are now issued as store credits, calculated based on the per-seed price at the time of your original purchase.

Germination Replacement Policy: What Qualifies, and What Doesn't

Germination is arguably the most misunderstood phase in cannabis cultivation. A seed can be genetically perfect and still fail to pop if the moisture, temperature, or oxygen conditions deviate even slightly — a soggy paper towel, a cold basement, tap water high in chlorine. This is not the seed's fault. It's biology.

That complexity is why our germination replacement policy has specific thresholds, and why we ask growers to be honest and methodical before submitting a claim.

  1. Wait the full 7 to 10 days before contacting us. Experienced growers know that some seeds need the complete window to crack under optimal conditions. Contacting us at day three is premature.
  2. Follow breeder protocol exactly. The breeders we work with will only honour a replacement if their recommended germination method was used. Deviating from that protocol voids the claim — not our rule, theirs.
  3. Always purchase at least 10% more seeds than you plan to run. A 90% germination rate is the industry standard and is considered a successful outcome. We will not replace seeds when 9 out of 10 germinated successfully. Plan your grow numbers accordingly.
  4. We replace seeds that have genuinely failed to germinate at our discretion, and only for eligible customers. "Eligible" means you followed the process, contacted us within the window, and have a documented pattern consistent with a seed issue rather than a technique issue.
  5. If you are experiencing germination failures across multiple unrelated breeders and strains, the common variable is almost certainly environmental, not genetic. We reserve the right — and have the horticultural grounds — to make that determination.
  6. Contact us within 30 days of purchase if a germination issue arises. Breeders grant us a 30-day reporting window because we have no visibility into how seeds are stored after they leave our facility. Once that window closes, we have no avenue to escalate your claim upstream.
A 90% germination rate is reasonable, expected, and the global benchmark for quality seed stock. Buy 10% more seeds than your canopy requires — it's the single most practical insurance a grower can carry.

Popular Strains Worth Knowing Before You Order

Choosing the right cultivar before you buy reduces the chance you'll ever need to initiate a return or exchange. Here are some of the most trusted autoflowering strains in our catalogue, each selected by growers who prioritise both genetics and grow-room ease.

Alien Technology Auto, a rare indica with deep body-heavy effects and a bold fruity-diesel aroma, is built for evenings when the grow room is dark and the day deserves a serious finish. Its calming, spicy character makes it one of the more sought-after rare genetics we carry.

If afternoons call for something balanced and creative, Lemon Daddy Auto is a well-rounded hybrid that delivers an enjoyable, uplifting experience without overwhelming sedation — ideal for growers who want versatility from a single plant.

Critical Mass Auto, the heavy indica-lineage classic, is the cultivar growers reach for when they want a high-THC, night-time-ready strain with reliable production. Experienced cultivators consistently favour it for its dense, resinous buds.

Few strains hit as hard as Platinum OG Auto, widely considered one of the heaviest indica cultivars available at 20% THC. It is definitively a "do nothing" day strain — proceed with intention.

On the opposite end of the complexity spectrum, The OX Auto is an indica-dominant powerhouse that combines both high THC and meaningful CBD levels, producing an exceptionally well-rounded experience that is also a breeze to cultivate — a rare combination.

For growers drawn to pure landrace lineage, Afghani Bullrider Auto is a 100% indica with deep Afghan roots, an earthy-sweet flavour profile driven by myrcene and caryophyllene, and the kind of mellow, appetite-stimulating high that pure indica genetics deliver at their best.

Looking for energy alongside your evening session? Paris XXX Auto is an indica-leaning cultivar that nonetheless surprises with arousal and elevated energy — a contrast that keeps seasoned collectors coming back for it.

The legendary DJ Short Blueberry Auto needs little introduction. At 22% THC with a deliciously fruity, berry-forward terpene profile dominated by myrcene and linalool, this indica-dominant cultivar is one of the most beloved genetics in the Canadian cannabis community.

The sativa-leaning Chiesel Auto — a portmanteau of Big Buddha Cheese and NYC Diesel — brings 16% THC alongside a savoury, fuel-laced flavour, 45 to 55 days from flowering to harvest, and a beginner-friendly temperament that makes it one of the more accessible hybrids we recommend to new growers. Its 60% sativa, 30% indica, 10% ruderalis breakdown keeps the high cerebral without sacrificing physical ease.

The name describes everything: Tutti Frutti Auto, the sativa-dominant hybrid from Coastal Genetics, delivers a slow-building, cheerful, buzzy high that mirrors the candy it's named after. The plant's vivid colouration makes it as visually rewarding in the grow space as it is at harvest.

Pure Kush Auto is the Kush archetype at its most accessible — a skunky, pungent harvest after nine weeks of flowering, with a euphoric effect profile that manages depression and stress without gluing you to the couch. Popular across every skill level, from first-time home cultivators to seasoned production growers.

Finally, Jack Frost Auto earns its name: this cheerful, high-energy hybrid from Advanced Genetics captures the sociable, giddy spirit of its namesake with elevated chattiness, liveliness, and the inevitable craving for snacks. It is the go-to party cultivar for growers who want something that delivers in social settings.

A Final Word on Buying with Confidence

The best return is the one you never need to make. That means choosing genetics backed by reputable breeders, following germination protocols precisely, ordering 10% more seeds than your canopy requires, and reaching out the moment an issue arises — not six weeks later.

Pacific Seed Bank works exclusively with breeders who stand behind their product. Every strain in our catalogue has been selected with that standard in mind. When something genuine goes wrong, we are here to make it right — but the clock starts the day your order is delivered, and so does your window to act. Keep your tracking information, document your germination setup, and don't hesitate to reach out. Our team is committed to your success in the grow room, from the first seed to the final cure.
