Growing Tips for Death Star

Death Star is one of the easiest strains to grow in the cannabis world. Death Star marijuana plants will thrive indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the ability to completely control the climate. If you choose to grow indoors, you will need to replicate a steady environment similar to a warm Mediterranean climate. Death Star cannabis seeds produce uniquely purple plants that are vibrant and covered with crystal resin trichomes. If you choose to grow outdoors, you will need consistent temperature and humidity throughout the season to bring these plants to completion. Doing so will ensure that you grow healthy buds from the top of the plants down to the buds closest to the soil. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the ideal outdoor climate without having to contend with unexpected weather variables — particularly important across many Canadian regions. These plants grow to a tall height and can reach around 1.5–2.4 metres tall. Because the plants can reach a maximum indoor and outdoor height of 2.4 metres, they require ample headroom to reach their maximum bud production. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 21–27°C and slightly cooler at night. Humidity levels should be kept around 30–50% during the vegetative growth stage and the flowering stage, and gradually lowering humidity each week will help this plant thrive. Growing indoors will ensure that moderate humidity levels and moderate temperatures are consistent and maintained every day that the plants are in the growing stages. Topping, Screen of Green (ScrOG), and Low-Stress Training (LST) methods are the most beneficial techniques for this strain. If performed correctly, these methods will help to increase overall yields and improve bud production. They will also reinforce the heavier bud sites, keeping branches and stems from breaking under the weight while controlling the canopy, allowing air and light to reach the lower buds. The Death Star strain requires an 18–20 hour light cycle to remain in the vegetative stage of growth. You will need to alter the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle in order to trigger the flowering stage of growth.

Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest

  • Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Death Star strain to be ready for harvest after a short flowering period of 55–65 days.
  • Yields: Indoor yields are around 350 grams per square metre, while outdoor grows typically produce up to 400 grams per plant. This easy-to-grow strain produces moderate yields of pale purple buds.
  • Harvest: Outdoor growers across Canada can plan on harvesting their yields around the middle of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.

Death Star: Sweet Skunky Diesel

The Death Star cannabis strain terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while limonene and myrcene are the secondary terpenes.

  • Caryophyllene: Most Dominant - This spicy and peppery terpene can be found in cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, and some cannabis cultivars.
  • Limonene: Secondary Terpene - Found in the rinds of citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges, and even grapefruits.
  • Myrcene: Earthy Flavour and Aroma - Earthy and robust, this terpene is known as "The Mother of All Terpenes."
