Blue Widow Seeds
Blue Widow is a sativa-leaning hybrid with a sweet blueberry flavour and a smooth, balanced buzz. It's great for focused, uplifting daytime sessions without knocking you out.
Growing Tips for Blue Widow
Blue Widow is an easy strain to grow and can be brought to harvest by growers with limited cannabis cultivation experience. Blue Widow marijuana plants will thrive both indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the grower's ability to control the climate. If you choose to grow indoors, you will need to replicate a steady environment with warm temperatures and moderate humidity levels consistent with a long, sunny summer season. Blue Widow produces plants that are bright green, blue, and even purple in some light. This strain is known for being sticky because of the crystal resin trichomes that coat the exterior of the buds. If you are going to grow outdoors, you will need to maintain a consistent temperature and humidity to get these plants to harvest. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the ideal outdoor climate they require without having to contend with unexpected outdoor variables — particularly important across many Canadian regions where temperatures can fluctuate significantly. These plants grow super tall and can reach a maximum outdoor height of between 1.2–3 metres. Because of the height of these plants, you will need to give them ample vertical space to reach their maximum potential. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 20–27°C. Humidity levels should be kept at 30–50% during the vegetative and flowering growth stages. Growing indoors will ensure that moderate humidity levels and temperature are maintained every day that the plants are in the growing stages. Low-stress training (LST), topping, and Screen of Green (ScrOG) are the best training techniques for this specific strain. Both of these techniques will ensure that your yields reach their full potential from top to bottom. The Blue Widow strain requires an 18–20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative stage of growth. Altering the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will induce the flowering stage and bring you to harvest. Please note that in Canada, personal cultivation is permitted up to 4 plants per household for adults, though regulations may vary by province.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Blue Widow strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 55–65 days.
- Yields: Indoor yields are around 500 grams per square metre, while outdoor grows typically produce up to 900 grams per plant. These plants grow super tall and produce massive yields when grown correctly. You would be hard-pressed to find another strain with such a high output of bud once the grow is completed.
- Harvest: Outdoor growers in Canada can plan on harvesting their yields around the beginning of October, depending on when the seeds were planted and the local climate of their region.
Blue Widow: Sweet and Delicious Blueberries
The Blue Widow terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is pinene, while myrcene, terpinolene, and limonene are the secondary terpenes.
- Pinene: Most Dominant – Found in cannabis plants as well as pine needles and conifer trees, this terpene is responsible for the strain's pine-like notes.
- Myrcene: Secondary Terpene – The "Mother of all Terpenes", myrcene gives cannabis its earthy flavour and aroma. Myrcene can be found in several cannabis strains.
- Limonene: Fresh Citrus – Found mostly in the rinds of citrus fruits, limonene is known for helping to decrease anxiety and can improve lung function when found in cannabis.
- Terpinolene: Complex Aroma – Terpinolene can be found in cannabis plants and has a pine, floral, spicy, and citrusy aroma that lingers long after the buds are ignited.
