Growing Tips for Big Bud

Big Bud is easy to grow even for first-time cultivators. If you have experience growing your own cannabis, then cultivating Big Bud should be a walk in the park for you. It thrives in a controlled indoor climate or an outdoor climate similar to the Mediterranean. The strain prefers semi-humid environments to grow to fruition, so if you live in a region of Canada where optimum temperature and humidity are difficult to achieve, you may want to consider growing your plants indoors. Perfect for beginner growers, after a short flowering stage, you should find yourself harvesting massive yields of this dank and delicious bud. If you prefer a mellow high that isn't too overpowering, then Big Bud is a great choice for you. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 18–29 degrees Celsius.

Humidity levels should be kept around 40–50% during the vegetative stage and maintained at 40–45% during the flowering stage of growth. Keeping the humidity levels below 60% will help keep mould and mildew off your plants. Big Bud tends to have an issue with mould, mildew, and pests, so dialling in the correct relative humidity is important for this grow.

Low-stress training and high-stress training are the ideal techniques to increase the overall yield of this strain. When these methods are used correctly, you will see a big difference in the quality and quantity of your buds. Big Bud plants require an 18–20 hour light cycle to get them started and to carry them through the vegetative stage. Changing the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle will help to induce the flowering stage of growth and get you to harvest.

Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest

  • Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Big Bud strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 55–65 days.
  • Yields: Indoor yields are around 550 grams per square metre, while outdoor grows typically produce up to 700 grams per plant. These yields are impressive and a welcome reward for a job well done. Given the ease of this grow, you should be really pleased with these yields of super potent buds.
  • Harvest: Outdoor growers across Canada can plan on harvesting their mighty yields between late September and early October.

Big Bud: Earthy Grape

The Big Bud terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is myrcene, while ocimene and pinene are the secondary terpenes.

  • Myrcene: Most Dominant – Myrcene is a monoterpene that can be found abundantly in cannabis varieties.
  • Ocimene: Secondary Terpene - Commonly found in mint, parsley, and basil, this terpene is responsible for the sweet, fruity, and citrus aroma in cannabis plants.
  • Pinene: Pine Flavour and Aroma - Found in pine needles and conifer trees, this terpene provides cannabis with a pine-like aroma and flavour.
