A-Train Seeds
The ever-popular A-Train strain of cannabis was created by combining heavy-hitting parent strains Mazar/Shariff and Arcata E-13 Trainwreck. The 50/50 Indica-Sativa hybrid boasts a super happy buzz, complete with cerebral euphoria.

A-Train: Powerfully Potent
A-Train seeds grow into taller plants that can reach nearly 7 feet in height. The plants are bushy and feature long green leaves that hang down far below the bud sites. Speaking of buds, A-Train cannabis buds are packed with potent flavour and an aroma that is hard to mistake. The buds on this plant are green and purple with dusty resinous trichomes covering every inch of surface area. The buds also feature bright red and orange pistils that transfer to the harvested nuggets. The harvested nuggets are super dense and hard to break up with your fingers. Breaking those nuggets up will release a strong ammonia-like scent. Even with all of the positive attributes associated with A-Train, it has yet to win a major cannabis award. We fully anticipate that this strain will be in the running for future Cannabis Cups and Highlife Cups as long as its online popularity is maintained. The strain has taken home smaller awards at local award shows, which gives us a peek into its widespread popularity. The strain also has a ton of positive reviews online from consumers and growers across Canada who truly appreciate the strain's potent buzz and ease of growth.
Growing Tips for Our Seeds
A-Train is a difficult strain to grow, especially if you have little to no experience cultivating your own cannabis plants. If you have an intermediate to master level of experience, you should be able to bring these plants to fruition without issue. They love warm, sunny climates with ample sunlight and fresh air, making regions like southern British Columbia and Ontario particularly well-suited for outdoor grows. The strain can be grown both indoors and outdoors as long as it has a lot of room to grow. Growing tall, the plants need vertical space to hit their stride. This can pose a problem in indoor grows where grow lights hang over the plants. You will want to adjust the grow lights to ensure they have plenty of room and don't burn the top buds on your plants.
Dial in Your Growing Conditions
- Indoor or Outdoor: A-Train marijuana can be grown indoors and outdoors by experienced growers. The desired temperature for this strain is between 21–24 degrees Celsius and slightly cooler at night. This strain requires 18–20 hours of light during the vegetative stage. Switching to a 12/12 light cycle will induce the flowering stage and bring these plants to harvest.
- Moisture Control: Humidity levels of approximately 40–50% during the vegetative phase, gradually decreasing to 40% or lower during the flowering stage. This change in humidity will help keep mould and bud rot off of your plants.
- Training Techniques: Low-stress training (LST) and topping are the best options for this specific strain, as they will help light and air circulate to the lowest branches of the plant. These methods require trimming and bending top branches so light hits the lower buds.
Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest
- Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the A-Train strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 50–60 days. If you are growing outdoors, then you can expect flowering to occur in early October. You are going to want to closely monitor the outdoor growth to ensure you harvest at the opportune time.
- Yields: Indoor yields are around 350 grams per square metre, while outdoor grows typically produce up to 350 grams per plant. All things considered, these yield numbers are pretty solid. This strain takes a lot of energy and attention to grow properly, so if you can hit these numbers, you'll be happy with the result.
Dominant Terpenes in A-Train: All Aboard!
The A-Train terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, while limonene and terpinolene are secondary terpenes.
- Caryophyllene: Most Dominant - Found in cinnamon and black pepper, this terpene adds a bit of spice to the cannabis plant.
- Limonene: Secondary Terpene – Common in the rinds of citrus fruits, this terpene is associated with uplifting effects and promotes healthy lung function.
- Terpinolene: Woody and Citrus – This terpene provides a woody and citrus flavour and aroma when found in cannabis.
Dominant Cannabinoids in A-Train:
Cannabinoids play an important role in A-Train seeds and are generally a huge part of most strains of cannabis. That creative, euphoric, and happy feeling you get when enjoying the A-Train strain is due to its dominant cannabinoids. Each cannabinoid does something different to the user.
- THC: The Main Character - THC is the most dominant cannabinoid on the molecular level of this strain. The crystalline compound tetrahydrocannabinol is the main ingredient of cannabis. Topping out at 21%, the THC in this balanced hybrid strain is responsible for the euphoric and relaxed feeling you get when enjoying A-Train cannabis.
- CBD: Very Minimal Amounts - While the CBD levels in A-Train are around 1%, the cannabinoid is still present, and the effects are noticeable in this strain. CBD plays a smaller role in what the strain does to the user. CBD is non-psychoactive and can produce effects that help with anxiety, sleep, pain, and even stress. The CBD in the A-Train strain, even in its lower amounts, definitely has a positive effect on the user.
