Growing Tips for Deep Chunk

Deep Chunk is a notoriously easy strain to grow, even if you have limited cannabis cultivation experience. Deep Chunk marijuana plants will thrive indoors and outdoors, but have an easier time growing indoors because of the ability to completely control the climate. If you choose to grow indoors, you will need to replicate a steady environment similar to the climate of the Mediterranean. Deep Chunk cannabis seeds produce plants with small, pointed buds that are equally green, brown, and orange. The buds are covered in pistils and trichomes, making them appear fuzzy under certain light. If you choose to grow outdoors, you will need consistent temperature and humidity levels to grow these plants to completion. Doing so will ensure that you grow healthy buds from the top of the plants to the buds closest to the soil. Having access to a greenhouse is the best way to give these plants the perfect outdoor climate without having to contend with unexpected outdoor variables. These plants grow to a small to medium height and can reach around 60–150 centimetres tall. Because the plants reach a maximum indoor and outdoor height of approximately 150 centimetres, they can be grown in various smaller grow setups. The ideal temperature for these plants is around 21–29 degrees Celsius and slightly cooler at night. Humidity levels should be kept around 40–70% during the vegetative growth stage and the flowering stage, but lowering the humidity gradually each week will help this plant thrive. Growing indoors will ensure that moderate humidity levels and moderate temperatures are consistent and maintained every day that the plants are in the growing stages. High-stress training (HST) and low-stress training (LST) methods are the most beneficial techniques for this strain. If performed correctly, these methods will help to increase overall yields and improve bud production. They help to train the canopy so that the plant allows light and air to reach the lower levels. The Deep Chunk strain requires an 18–20 hour light cycle to reach the vegetative stage of growth. You will need to alter the light cycle to a 12/12 cycle in order to induce the flowering stage of growth.

Yields, Flowering Time, and Harvest

  • Flowering Time: Growing indoors, you can expect the Deep Chunk strain to harvest after a short flowering period of 55–65 days.
  • Yields: Indoor yields are around 400 grams per square metre, while outdoor grows typically produce up to 450 grams per plant. These yields are fantastic considering how easy this strain is to grow and the relatively short flowering period.
  • Harvest: Outdoor growers across Canada can plan on harvesting their yields around the middle of October, depending on when the seeds were planted.

Deep Chunk: Sweet Citrus Pine

The Deep Chunk cannabis strain terpene profile is directly responsible for how the plant smells and tastes, and the strong effects it has on its users. The most dominant terpene in this strain is ocimene, while phellandrene, pinene, and sabinene are the secondary terpenes.

  • Ocimene: Most Dominant - Found in cannabis plants, this terpene is responsible for the plant's sweet, fruity, and citrus aroma.
  • Phellandrene: Secondary Terpene - Commonly found in cannabis and eucalyptus, phellandrene gives marijuana its woody, minty, and sometimes citrusy aroma.
  • Pinene: Pine Needles - Pinene is abundant in conifer trees and pine needles and gives cannabis plants a pine-like flavour and aroma.
  • Sabinene: Entourage Effect - This terpene is almost exclusively found in cannabis cultivars. It contributes to the plant's spicy and citrusy scent.
